Being Forced into Sex

Child sexual exploitation is when a young person under the age of 18 is promised something in return for sexual activity.  This may be money, alcohol, cigarettes, gifts or housing.

Young people can also be sexually exploited through technology, e.g. when they are persuaded to post / exchange sexual images of themselves online.

Coercion is when someone forces you to do something sexual that you don't freely want to do.  This can range from fear of being dumped to being physically threatened.

• Exploitation and coercion can happen to girls and boys.

• Exploitation and coercion aren’t always obvious.  If you’re unsure, try to talk to someone you trust

• It is NEVER your fault
