The Patch
The contraceptive patch is a small square sticky plaster that looks similar to a nicotine patch. It delivers hormones to the body through the skin and contains the same hormones as the combined pill.
The patch is 99% effective if used properly. It can be worn on hair free areas of the body and won’t come off in the shower. You only have to remember to change the patch once a week and you do this for three weeks in a row. Then you have one week without a patch on.
The patch stops you getting pregnant and can make periods lighter and less painful, but it won't protect you from picking up an STI
