What is sexual health?
Taking care of your sexual health is really important. Sex should be fun, enjoyable and safe without the worry of pregnancy or getting a sexually transmitted infection. It is about having a healthy body and emotions, not having sex under the influence of drugs or alcohol and only having sex when you are ready.
Sexually transmitted infections
STIs can affect men and women whatever your sexuality. They are passed on through unprotected sex in the vagina, anus or mouth or by genital skin contact.
You do not need to have had lots of sexual partners to get an infection.
The best way to avoid catching or passing on a sexually transmitted infection is to use a condom each time you have sex.
