Your Rights

Workers are there to help you to access the sexual health services that you need.

They need to make sure that you are safe and not in any kind of abusive situation. All health services are confidential even if you are under 16, this includes sexual health services for contraception, abortion & treatment of sexually transmitted infections.

If there is a concern about your or another young person’s safety, the person you speak to may have to share information in order to protect you, but they will always speak to you about this first unless it is absolutely necessary to share the information urgently to protect you from harm.

All services for young people should have a copy of their confidentiality policy available in a language you understand. If you can't see it, or you're not sure what their policy is around sharing information, you have the right to ask.
